The First Concert
The outside air was thick and chill
The line was long, wrapped all around
Around the building in which we would enter
Awaiting to see the bands on the bill
Everyone crowding around us
The room was large, dark, filling up fast
Energy jolting from every which way
This special energy, would definitely last.
The first band comes on
No one knowing them by name
They were only "the opening band"
They didn't fit in and were really just lame.
Hatebreed came on, the room filled up once more,
With loudness, excitement, crowded from stage to door
Thrashing began, the pit opened up
Joy, pain, and music filled up everywhere.
One more came on, then the headlining act
Screams echoed from wall to wall
There was enough love, care, and bruises for all
We were mostly strangers, but for a time, we were family.
